War of the Twins

C and A represent the Yang force of W divided into a pair of warring opposites. On the Level of the waking ego's reality, they are Jerry and Kevin, HCE's twin sons. They are also Shem the Penman and Shaun the Postman representing the introverted artist and the extroverted man of action. They are Cain and Abel, Jacob and Esau, and expand eventually to include all wars of brothers including the Irish and American Civil Wars. In the Jarl Van Hoother/Prankquean sequence they are Tristopher and Hillary.

Of course like all pairs of opposites, they issue from a common source, in this case the W aspect of the system function(of which HCE is the waking ego). They also find reconciliation in the form of A= as when Brown and Nolan Unite into Bruno of Nola.
